Nancy Bishop has had a 35-year career in corporate and university marketing, publishing and corporate communications. She is director of intellectual capital marketing for A.T. Kearney, the global management consulting firm. Her job includes directing the firm's thought leadership publishing program (a quarterly journal, issue papers and books), working with management consultants as they develop intellectual capital concepts, and managing the firm's corporate identity and national advertising programs. She joined A.T. Kearney in 1984, when the firm was one-eighth its current size and scope.
Nancy formerly was press relations manager for Kentucky Fried Chicken Corp. (now KFC) and press relations manager and internal communications manager for the now-defunct Montgomery Ward & Company. She also was director of publications at Northern Illinois University and the University of Wisconsin - River Falls.
Nancy has been a member of the board of directors of the American Civil Liberties Union's Illinois affiliate since 1992. She currently chairs the membership committee, and has chaired other committees over the years, including organizing and facilitating strategic planning sessions for the board. A significant part of her ACLU board work has involved development and the major donor program.
She also has been a member of the board of directors of Famous Door Theatre since 2000 and has held various leadership positions. Famous Door recently announced it will cease production this year. Other board service included Bailiwick Repertory Theatre, 1995-99; the Chicago Chamber Music Consortium, 1990-93; and the 1335 North Astor Street Cooperative Building (1998-2003). She was a docent for the Chicago Architecture Foundation, 1986-1996, specializing in architectural tours of the Loop, Michigan Avenue and the Gold Coast.

- "This Gun's Not for Hire: Bruce Springsteen and Corporate Sponsorship." Paper to be presented at Glory Days: A Bruce Springsteen Symposium sponsored by Penn State University in Monmouth, New Jersey, September 2005.
She holds an M.A. in journalism from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri. She has taken graduate business courses at Northern Illinois University and at the Stuart School of Business, Illinois Institute of Technology. |
